by admin

The recent outbreak of Covid 19 began in Wuhan, China. The first report was declared in December 2019. It is a virus linked to the same family of viruses as a severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). CO stands for corona, VI for the virus, and D for the disease. The disease is referred to as covid-19 because the first case emerged in 2019.

Symptoms of the covid-19 virus

Most of the people infected with covid-19 have some common symptoms like

    • Cough
    • Fever
    • Weakness
    • Sore throat
    • Shortness of breath or difficult breathing
    • Headache
    • Chest pain
    • Loss of taste and smell

These are the common symptoms seen in most of the patients. Some people may have only a few of the symptoms mentioned above, while some may have no symptoms at all. The severity of symptoms may vary from mild to severe.

People of old age, children, or people who already have chronic medical conditions have a higher risk of illness from covid-19

How it spreads?

This virus spread quickly among people who remain in physical contact with each other during work, at the house, or in any other workplace. Researches show that it spreads from person to person who is in close contact or within 2 meters or 6 feet.

It generally spreads when the infected person cough, sneeze, breathe, or talks, then small respiratory droplets released from their mouth may land on the eyes nose or in the mouth of a person nearby. Like this, the people who are in contact may also catch the virus quickly.

It also spreads if the infected person touches an object or any surface, and then the unaffected person touches that same surface; in this way, one gets infected by the virus.

What are the preventions we must take?

Although till date, there is no vaccine available in the market to prevent covid-19. We can take some preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection. By following simple precautions, we can protect ourselves and our near and dear ones from exposure to the virus that causes covid-19.

    • Maintain a distance of 2 meters or 6 feet between yourself and others. Sometimes, people infected with covid-19 may don’t have the symptoms, or most of the time, people themselves are not aware that they have a covid-19 infection.
    • Avoid visiting any crowded or public place until it’s necessary, as there are more chances to catch the virus at the crowded place.
    • Wash your hands with soap for a minimum of 20 seconds each time you visit outside or touch anything.
    • Regularly sanitize your hands but make sure that it contains at least 60% alcohol.
    • Cover your face with a face mask or any cloth whenever you go outside.
    • Avoid sharing food, towels, beds, or other household items with others.

Conclusion

If you have noticed any symptoms of covid-19, without giving a second thought, contact your nearby doctor or clinic for guidance. Follow the precautions mentioned above to stay safe and unaffected. The most important thing is to stay positive and not panic; it is just like a regular virus, but you need to be more alert and precise.
